Clinical and translational Senescence RESEARCH GROUP

Aging has traditionally been viewed as an unalterable process that inevitably leads to numerous diseases, particularly cardiovascular disease. However, senescent cells, which are at the basis of the ageing process, have been shown to be the driving force behind heart disease and can be modified to achieve a therapeutic effect. The Clinical Senescence Group specializes in the development of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures targeting cellular senescence.

The preclinical research arm of the group (Translational Senescence Group) cooperates with the Institute for Molecular and Translational Therapeutic Strategies (IMTTS).
