CARDIAC ENERGETICS RESEARCH GROUP

Research Group

The “Cardiac energetics” research group of the Department of Cardiology and Angiology at Hannover Medical School (MHH) is a translational research unit. We are dedicated to elucidate the molecular mechanisms regulating mitochondrial energetics in the heart and to determine their contribution to the development of heart failure.

Current research topics

Specific objectives of our research group include:

  • Elucidating the impact of Vitamin A metabolism on cardiac energetics and the development of heart disease.
  • Elucidating the molecular mechanisms by which hypoxia mediates cardioprotective effects.

We utilize cutting-edge tools, including various cell culture models and transgenic mouse models.
